The A game for the future: My future at play is a three-year project (2022-2024) coordinated by the IntHum association. On 30 January, we tested the CityLife game in the spaces of BiblioLab, the community library of Latte Dolce and Santa Maria di Pisa neighborhoods of Sassari. Research conducted in the neighborhood revealed a high dropout rate, often associated with young people entering adult life too early and a lack of long-term planning that has persisted across generations.

First year: CityLife - A dream in the city. Using a seemingly playful approach, we engaged young students from the elementary school “Istituto Comprensivo Latte Dolce Agro” and their families to create a game that could help them envision future career paths. CityLife is a modular puzzle designed to highlight a vast range of possibilities, encouraging players to discover the skills necessary to achieve their dreams through play. The game was created in collaboration with students, employing woodworking techniques with a scroll saw, handbuilding techniques in pottery, and using engobes and glazes to decorate certain elements. Additionally, the game box includes a set of 50 “game cards” reflecting the wishes and fears expressed by the participants.

Second year: Where is it? In collaboration with “Art Tribù Studio”, Officine Condivise organized a workshop for 15 children from the elementary school “Istituto Comprensivo Latte Dolce Agro”, focusing on exploring their neighborhood. Through walks, participants were encouraged to identify and photograph places that held personal significance to them, as well as to discover new locations. The photos were then printed onto cardboard pieces, which together formed a pathway on a collaboratively constructed game board. Each location featured a riddle, and the pathway gradually led to the final square, which represented the school.
